Metal Polishing Services for Classic and Custom Vehicles

Our metal polishing services bring corroded, dull, and damaged parts back to a mirror finish. We strip, repair, and re-plate using our quad chrome plate process, then collect and deliver nationwide.

Who Our Metal Polishing Services Are For

We work with private collectors, showrooms, restoration workshops, and enthusiasts who want their metalwork done properly. That covers classic car bumpers, grilles, overriders and trim, vintage motorcycle exhausts, headlamp shells and handlebars, and one-off parts for bespoke custom builds. Some pieces only need polishing to lift a dull surface back to a bright finish. Others arrive pitted, flaking, or heavily corroded, and those we strip back, repair, and re-plate. If you are unsure which category your parts fall into, send us photographs and we will tell you honestly what can be saved and what cannot.

Send Us Your Photos for a Quote

Send us photographs of your parts and a short description of what you have, and we will tell you what can be restored and what it will cost before any work starts. If you would rather talk it through first, get in touch and we will go through the options with you.

What You Get From Professional Metal Polishing

A properly polished and plated part looks right on the vehicle and stays looking right. Our quad chrome plate process builds the finish up in stages rather than laying a thin layer over old damage, so the mirror finish has depth to it and the underlying repair work is dealt with first. For anyone restoring a car or bike to original condition, that difference is visible the moment the part goes back on. You also avoid the cost of chasing replacement parts that may no longer be made, since restoring the original is often the only route to keeping a vehicle authentic. Every job carries a 12 month warranty.

How the Work Is Carried Out

It starts with an assessment of your parts, from photographs or once they reach our workshop. We strip the old plating back to bare metal so we can see the true condition underneath, then repair pitting, dents, and corrosion damage before any polishing begins. The metal is polished through progressive stages until the surface is ready, then re-plated using our quad chrome plate process and given a final inspection. We collect and deliver nationwide, so you do not need to arrange transport for awkward or fragile items yourself. We will keep you updated on where your parts are in the process.

Send Us Photographs

Email or message us clear photographs of your parts along with a description of the vehicle and what you want achieved. There is no need to send anything physically at this stage.

Why Customers Trust Us With Their Parts

We have been doing this since 1994 and have completed over 250,000 projects in that time, which means very little arrives that we have not seen a version of before. Our customers include collectors and showrooms who cannot afford a poor finish on a vehicle they are presenting or selling, and they keep coming back, with more than 6,750 reviews behind us. We are straight with you about what is realistic. If a part is too far gone to restore well, we will say so rather than take the work and hand back something disappointing.

Restoring Your Original Parts or Buying Replacements

For older cars and bikes, replacement trim is often no longer made, and what is available second hand tends to need the same work your own parts do. Restoring the original keeps the vehicle authentic and avoids a long search for a part that may never turn up in good condition. Where a replacement genuinely makes more sense, we will say so. Send us photographs and we will tell you which route we would take.

What Metal Polishing Costs

Cost depends on the part and its condition. A straightforward polish on sound metal sits at one end, while a heavily corroded piece needing stripping, dent and pit repair, and full re-plating takes considerably more hands-on work. Size, complexity, and how many separate pieces you are sending all affect the figure. We quote per job rather than working from a fixed list, so send us photographs and a description of what you have and we will give you a clear price before anything begins. Nationwide collection and delivery and the 12 month warranty are part of the service.

The front and rear bumpers off my 1965 Jaguar were pitted right through in places and two restorers had already told me they were scrap. You stripped them, sorted the pitting and sent them back looking better than the day the car left the factory. The depth in the chrome is something else.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our services and how we can help you

What should my photographs show if I want an accurate price?

Take one photograph of each part as a whole so we can see what it is, then closer shots of any pitting, flaking, dents or splits. Photograph the back of the piece as well where you can, because that is often where corrosion has taken hold. Tell us the vehicle it came from and roughly how long the part is. That is usually enough for us to assess the condition and quote without seeing it in person.

I am not sure whether my parts need polishing or re-plating. Does that affect how I get in touch?

Not at all. You do not need to know what the work is before you contact us, and plenty of people are surprised either way once we look. Send photographs of what you have and we will tell you whether the piece needs a polish, a full strip and re-plate, or something in between, and price it accordingly.

Can I send a single part, or do you only take on larger jobs?

We take both. A single handlebar, headlamp shell or piece of trim is as welcome as a full set of bumpers, grilles and overriders. If you do have several pieces destined for the same vehicle, send them together so the finish comes back consistent across all of them.

I am partway through a restoration and not ready to send anything yet. Is it worth getting in touch now?

Yes. Knowing what your chrome will cost and roughly how long it will be away helps you plan the rest of the build around it. Send photographs whenever you have them and we will give you the assessment and the price. There is no obligation to book anything in, and nothing is collected until you say so.

What if I am nowhere near Birmingham?

It makes no difference to how we work with you. We collect and deliver throughout the UK, so wherever you are, your parts are picked up from you once the quote is approved and delivered back when the work is finished. Everything before that happens by photograph and conversation.

How do I know the finish will last once the parts are back on the car?

The finish is built up in stages through our quad chrome plate process rather than laid as a single thin layer over old damage, and the repair work underneath is done before any plating goes on. Every job carries a 12 month warranty, so if something is not right with our work in that time, tell us and we will put it right.
