Automotive Chrome Plating and Restoration You Can Trust

We have specialised in automotive chrome plating since 1994, restoring even heavily corroded parts by stripping, repairing and re-plating them to a mirror finish. Whether you own a classic car, vintage motorcycle or custom build, we collect and deliver nationwide and warranty our work for 12 months.

Automotive Chrome Plating for Classic, Custom and Everyday Restoration Work

We re-chrome the parts that make a vehicle look finished: bumpers, grilles, trim, bezels, handles, wheels, exhaust tips, handlebars, forks and engine covers. Most of the work that reaches us is not in good condition when it arrives. Pitting, flaking, rust bloom and old plating that has lifted away from the base metal are normal starting points for us, and heavily corroded parts can usually be stripped back, repaired and re-plated rather than replaced. We work with private collectors, showrooms and enthusiasts across the country, on classic cars, vintage motorcycles and bespoke custom builds, so we are used to parts that are rare, discontinued or impossible to buy new.

Get a Quote for Your Parts

Send us photographs and a few details of the parts you want re-chromed, including the vehicle they came from and any damage you already know about. We will tell you honestly what the work involves, what it will cost, and how collection and delivery would work for you. If a part is not worth plating, we will say so.

What You Get From Re-Plating Rather Than Replacing

Keeping your original parts protects the character and originality of the vehicle, which matters if you are restoring something with history or preparing it for sale or display. Re-plating also solves the problem of parts that simply are not available any more. Our quad chrome plate process builds the finish up in layers, so you get depth and a true mirror reflection rather than a thin coating over unresolved damage underneath. Because we collect and deliver nationwide, you do not need to be local to us or arrange your own transport for awkward, heavy or fragile items, and every job we complete carries a 12 month warranty.

How We Work On Your Parts

We start by assessing what has arrived and what condition the base metal is genuinely in, because that decides everything that follows. The old plating is stripped off completely so nothing is hidden, then any damage in the metal itself is repaired, dents and distortion are worked out, and the surface is polished to the standard the finish needs. Only then do we plate, using our quad chrome plate process, and inspect the result before it goes back to you. If we find something during stripping that changes the scope of the work, such as damage that was concealed by the old plating, we will tell you before we carry on.

Why Owners Send Their Chrome To Us

We have been doing this since 1994 and have completed more than 250,000 projects, which means very little that comes through the door is unfamiliar to us. That experience shows up in the parts we are willing to take on, including heavily corroded pieces other platers turn away. Our customers include private collectors, showrooms and enthusiasts, and we hold a 5 star rating from over 6,754 reviews. We are straightforward about what a part needs, we collect and deliver nationwide, and we stand behind the finish with a 12 month warranty.

Re-Plating Your Original Parts Compared With Buying Replacements

Replacement chrome is not always available, and when it is, the quality and fit can vary, particularly on older or rarer vehicles. Re-plating keeps the parts your vehicle left the factory with, which matters for originality, for showing, and for resale. It also gives you control over the finish, because we build it up in layers over metal that has been properly repaired first rather than covering damage with a thin coating. The trade-off is time: a part that needs metal repair and hours of polishing will take longer than ordering a new one. Where a replacement genuinely is the better route, we will tell you.

What Affects The Cost Of Chrome Plating

Chrome plating is priced on the work each part actually needs rather than a flat rate, so the honest answer depends on what you send us. The main factors are the size and number of parts, the base metal, and how much repair and polishing is required before plating can begin. A tidy piece of trim with light wear is a very different job from a pitted bumper that needs metal repair and hours of preparation. Send us details and photographs of your parts and we will tell you what is involved and what it will cost, so there are no surprises once the old plating comes off.

David Whitfield

Classic car owner, Harrogate

The front and rear bumpers off my Jaguar were pitted right through and two platers had already told me they were beyond saving. They came back looking better than the day I bought the car. The reflection is deep rather than that thin, patchy look you sometimes get.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our services and how we can help you

What is the quickest way to find out where I stand?

Send us photographs of the parts along with a short description of what they came off and any damage you already know about. That is usually enough for us to tell you whether the parts can be restored, what the work will involve and what it will cost. You do not need to commit to anything to ask, and you do not need to work out the answer yourself before you get in touch.

What details are most useful to include when I contact you?

Photographs of each part from a couple of angles, taken in good light, tell us the most. Alongside those, let us know the vehicle they came from, how many pieces there are, whether you know the base metal, and anything you have already noticed such as pitting, dents or previous repairs. Where you are based helps too, so we can explain how collection and delivery would work for you.

What happens once I accept the quote?

We arrange collection from you, so you do not need to organise transport for heavy or awkward items. Your parts are stripped back, the base metal is repaired and polished, then the finish is built up in layers and inspected before it leaves us. Everything is packed and delivered back to you with a 12 month warranty on the work we have carried out. If anything changes along the way, we speak to you before continuing.

I have a set of parts. Will they all match once they come back?

Send the whole set together and we will handle them as one job, which is the best way to keep the finish consistent across every piece. It is one of the reasons showrooms send us trim and bezels regularly, because parts sitting next to each other on a vehicle need to look like they belong together when someone is stood close to them.

Why should I trust you with rare or irreplaceable parts?

We have been plating and restoring automotive chrome since 1994 and have completed more than 250,000 projects in that time, with a 5 star rating from over 6,754 reviews. Private collectors, showrooms and enthusiasts send us discontinued and one-off parts because there is no replacement to fall back on. That is normal work for us, and we will always tell you honestly what we think before we start rather than after.

What if I am still not sure it is worth doing?

Then ask us before you spend anything. We would far rather look at your photographs and tell you a part is not worth plating than take the job and hand you back something you are not happy with. If it can be saved, we will explain exactly how. If it cannot, you will know that quickly and can decide what to do next.
