Marine Chrome Plating and Restoration Across the UK
We have been carrying out marine chrome plating since 1994, restoring corroded fittings, trim and hardware to a deep mirror finish. Our quad chrome plate process is built for parts that live with salt water, and we collect and deliver nationwide with a 12 month warranty.

Marine Chrome Plating for Boat Fittings, Trim and Hardware
Marine chrome takes more punishment than almost any other finish. Salt water, spray, UV and constant damp work their way under the plating until it lifts, pits and stains. We re-plate the parts that suffer most, including rails and stanchions, cleats, winch parts, bow fittings, portlight rings, deck hardware, engine trim, wheel hubs and cabin fixtures. If a part is heavily corroded, we strip it back, repair the damage underneath and re-plate it rather than simply covering the problem over. We work with private owners, restorers, showrooms and trade customers, and we collect and deliver nationwide so you do not have to find a specialist near you.

What You Get From Re-Plating Rather Than Replacing
Original marine fittings are often better made than the replacements available today, and on older or bespoke boats they may not be available at all. Re-plating lets you keep the parts you already have, matched to each other in finish rather than a mix of old and new. Our quad chrome plate process builds the finish up in layers, which is what gives the depth and mirror reflection people expect from good chrome and helps it stand up to the marine environment. You also get one point of contact for the whole job, from collection through stripping, repair, plating and delivery back to you, with a 12 month warranty on our work.

How We Work Through a Marine Plating Job
Send us photographs of the parts first and tell us what they came from, and we will tell you what can realistically be recovered. We arrange collection nationwide, then strip the old plating and inspect what is underneath, because corrosion damage is usually worse than it looks through failing chrome. Pitting and dents are repaired and the surface is polished before plating begins, as the finish can only be as good as the metal beneath it. We then run the part through our quad chrome plate process, inspect it, and deliver it back to you packed for transport. We will keep you updated as the work moves through each stage.
Send Us Photographs
Show us the parts and tell us what they came from. We will tell you what is realistically recoverable before you commit to anything.
Why Owners and Restorers Send Their Work to Us
We have been plating since 1994 and have completed more than 250,000 projects in that time, covering classic cars, vintage motorcycles, bespoke custom vehicles and marine work for private collectors, showrooms and enthusiasts. That volume matters, because it means we have almost certainly seen the type of corrosion and the type of casting sitting in front of us before. Our customers have left us over 6,700 reviews at an average of five stars. We are based in Birmingham, but our collection and delivery service means we take on marine work from across the country, and everything we do carries a 12 month warranty.
Re-Plating Compared With Buying Replacements
Replacement fittings are not always available for older or bespoke boats, and where they are, the quality and the finish rarely match what is already on board. Re-plating keeps the original parts, so everything matches once the work is done. It also means one point of contact from collection through stripping, repair, plating and delivery, instead of chasing parts from several suppliers and hoping they fit.
What Marine Chrome Plating Costs
Cost depends on the part rather than the job title. The size and shape of the item, the metal it is made from, how far the corrosion has gone and how much repair and polishing is needed before plating all change the work involved. A set of small fittings in fair condition is a different piece of work to a heavily pitted casting that needs building back up. Send us photographs and a description of the parts and we will give you a clear quote before anything is booked in, including collection and return delivery, so you know what you are committing to from the start.
David Whitcombe
Plymouth
“The stanchions and cleats off our boat were pitted to the point I had written them off and started pricing up replacements. They were stripped back, repaired and came home looking better than anything I could have bought. Collection and delivery were arranged for me, which mattered because we are nowhere near Birmingham.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our services and how we can help you
What happens if you find more damage once the old chrome is stripped off?
We come back to you before we go any further. Plating hides a lot, and it is not unusual for pitting or a repair from years ago to show up once the surface is bare. If that changes the work involved, we tell you what we have found and what it means for the job, and you decide whether to carry on. We would rather have that conversation than press ahead and hand you a surprise at the end.
Can I send one or two pieces, or does it need to be a full set?
You can send whatever you need doing. Some customers send a single fitting, others send everything off the deck at once. If matching across the set matters to you, it is usually worth doing the pieces together, and we will say so when we quote. Either way, the collection and return delivery are arranged the same way, so a small job is not treated as an awkward one.
I am not certain what the parts are or what they need. Is that a problem?
No. You do not need to know the terminology or the process. Send photographs, tell us what the parts came off and what you are hoping for, and we will work out the rest. Most of the people who contact us are describing condition rather than specifying plating, and that is enough for us to tell you what is realistic.
Do you take on trade work as well as private jobs?
Yes. We work with private owners and collectors, with showrooms, and with restorers and yards handling work for their own customers. The process is the same in each case, and if you are managing a wider restoration we will keep you updated as parts move through stripping, repair and plating so you can plan the rest of the schedule around them.
What do I actually need to do to get started?
Take photographs of the parts, tell us what they came from and roughly what condition they are in, and send them over. We will tell you honestly what can be recovered, and if the work is worth doing you will get a clear quote covering the preparation, the plating and collection and return delivery before anything is booked in. There is nothing to commit to at that stage.
